If you love the color silver, you may wish to decorate your Christmas tree this year with only silver ornaments.
Here are a few ways to get the best interior designer results when you use just one color Christmas ornaments.
You can use either an artificial Christmas tree or a live Christmas tree when you decorate with silver ornaments.
The color of your Christmas tree can be green, white, black, silver, pink, or whatever color you desire.
It can be flocked or not flocked.
If you have a live tree, make sure to rotate it so the best side is most visible.
If you have an artificial Christmas tree, make sure to fluff it properly.
Lights
When adding lights to your Christmas tree, it is nearly impossible to add too many.
Add at least 1 strand of 100 mini lights to your Christmas tree per foot height of tree (a 7 foot tree would get 7 strands of 100 lights).
Remember that this is a minimum number of Christmas lights, so feel free to add more, even if you have a pre-lit Christmas tree.
Only use white or clear lights - no colors.
Also, consider adding 1 to 4 strands of twinkling lights around your Christmas tree. Make sure that each strand covers the top and bottom of your Christmas tree so that the twinkling goes throughout your tree, not just in one section.
You can also add 1 or 2 strands of slightly larger Christmas lights spread throughout for variety, if you wish.
Evergreen Fillers
If your Christmas tree is looking a little sparse, add evergreen floral pick fillers to make your Christmas tree look more fluffy.
You can use fillers that look like your Christmas tree or fillers that look different.
If you use fillers that look different, make sure to spread them throughout your tree for a cohesive look.
Garland, Ribbons, Etc
After adding the lights to your Christmas tree, feel free to add whatever garland, ribbons, bows, etc to your tree if you wish (this step is optional).
You can add silver trimmings or you can go with rustic items like pine cones and grapevine wreath.
Ornaments
You can use silver ornaments that look identical, but put them on your Christmas tree in a pattern.
Another option is to use silver ornaments in all different textures, shapes, and sizes.
You should have some smooth and textured ornaments.
Some plain spheres as well as other shapes.
Also make sure that some are large and others are small.
For added designer flair, add 5-7 oversized focal point ornaments throughout your Christmas tree that are about the size of your outstretched hand.
Tree Topper
Select an appropriate Christmas tree topper for your silver Christmas tree, or you may choose to not use a topper at all.
A silver star would look nice on a silver Christmas tree.
Below the Christmas Tree
To finish off your silver Christmas tree, add a coordinating Christmas tree skirt.
Instead of a skirt, you could use a decorative pot or surround to hide the base of your Christmas tree.
Some people like to hide the bottom of a Christmas tree using potted poinsettias.
For an added designer touch, add gifts wrapped in color coordinating gift wrap.
You could use gift wrap that is white, silver, black (for a dramatic look), gray, or kraft paper #ad (for a rustic look) with compementary bows.
