Many people don't think of the beach when they think of Christmas, however Christmas is celebrated in all parts of the world.
Whether your family's Christmas tradition is celebrating at a beach house or you enjoy a beach house style, here are a few ways to decorate a beach house for Christmas.
Color Scheme
Christmas decorations do not have to be red and green, especially at the beach.
Consider using the beachy colors around you to set your Christmas color scheme.
You can use dark blue like the water, light blue and white like the sky, tan and gold like the sand, soft pink or orange like the sunsets, light green like sea glass and/or darker green like coastal plants.
Another option is to use the colors already in each room as a Christmas decorating color palette.

Christmas Tree
You can decorate your home using a traditional green Christmas tree, either live or artificial, or use a white Christmas tree for a lighter look.
Unless you are in a cold weather location, a flocked tree should be avoided since it would look out of place.

Don't go overboard by including cheap mass produced ornaments of boats, lighthouses, fish, mermaids, and oars, else your Christmas tree might look like it belongs in a tacky gift shop.
Top and Bottom
Don't forget about the top and bottom of your Christmas tree.
Consider using a large starfish for your Christmas tree topper.
For a Christmas tree skirt, use something simple like burlap or a solid colored skirt without embellishment. Simplicity is key.
To continue the color scheme and add some designer flair, wrap your Christmas presents in color coordinating gift wrap.
Avoid cartoon characters on the gift wrap, else your Christmas tree might look juvenile.

Don't go overboard on the Christmas decorations if you have limited time to remove them once Christmas is over. Your time at the beach should be focused on spending time with the people who are with you.
