If you have a corner fireplace in your living room, you probably realize that arranging furniture around it is not that easy (especially if you also have a TV in that room).
You will probably need to try several different arrangements of your furniture to find the one that looks best with your particular furniture in your particular room.
Do not ignore the corner fireplace because it is the focal point of your room.
Make sure to put your TV near the fireplace so your furniture will be positioned towards the fireplace and TV instead of being positioned towards one and ignoring the other.
Here are a few interior designer approved ideas on how to arrange your room around a corner fireplace.
Furniture Angled with Fireplace
You can angle your living room sofa to be parallel with your corner fireplace with a chair angled perpendicular to the sofa on each end.
Angling a sofa will take up more space in your room than having it flush against a wall, so this furniture arrangement may not work in smaller living rooms.
This furniture arrangement is especially effective if your TV is hung over the corner fireplace.
Having furniture angled in the room is a more contemporary layout and may not feel right in a home with traditional furniture.

Parallel to the TV Wall
Assuming your TV is on the straight wall to the left or right of the fireplace, consider positioning your living room sofa parallel to the TV and having a chair (or two) perpendicular to the sofa on the side nearest the fireplace.
The person sitting in the chair should be able to easily converse with the people seated in the sofa, and everyone will have a good view of the corner fireplace and television.
Be careful when selecting a rectangular rug because the fit will be tricky to ensure the corner does not get too close to the fireplace to cause a fire hazard. At minimum, the front legs of all of your furniture should be on the rug, so don't get a rug that is too small.
Sectional Sofa
If you have a TV along the wall next to your corner fireplace, a sectional sofa may work well for you.
Assuming your TV is on the wall to the left of your fireplace, position the sectional sofa with the shorter side having its back against the wall to the right of the corner fireplace and the long end of the sectional parallel to the TV.
Make sure the arm of your sectional is far enough away from the corner fireplace to not cause a fire hazard.
Far Back
If your living room is large enough, position your furniture far away from your fireplace.
The farther back the furniture is, the less off center the corner fireplace will seem.
You can position your sofa to be parallel with a TV on a straight wall adjacent to the fireplace without the corner of the sofa being too close to the corner fireplace.
Subdivide the Room
If your room is large enough, you can subdivide the room into different zones using your furniture arrangement.
Consider putting a pair of chairs perpendicular to the corner fireplace to make a little reading area, then create a different area of your room for the large pieces of furniture and your TV. That way, each area has its own focal point.
Do NOT Put Furniture in Front of It
Whatever you do, do not pretend that the fireplace doesn't exist by putting furniture in front of it.
The fireplace should be the focal point and given proper attention.
Do NOT Put Furniture Backs to the Fireplace
Similar to the point above, your fireplace is the focal point of your living room, so there should not be anyone with their backs to the fireplace.
You can have people sitting with their side to the fireplace, but not with their backs to the fireplace,
This is the most important aspect of your corner fireplace furniture arrangement.
Switch Rooms
Does your living room have to be your living room or can it be the dining room instead by switching the rooms?
A corner fireplace in a dining room is not as obtrusive as one in the living room.
