Easter is a fun occasion to share food with family and friends.
Whether you will have a buffet table or a sit down dinner, here are some tips and tricks for decorating your dining table for Easter in order to have a gorgeous Easter tablescape.
Color Scheme
Start your table decorating by coming up with your Easter color scheme using pastel colors like yellow, pink, blue, and green.
White is a refreshing addition to your color scheme.
Fall colors, such as red and orange, should be avoided.
Consider how your Easter tablescape colors will complement the colors of your dining room.
Your place mat, table runner, and/or table cloth is a great foundation to create a color scheme for your Easter dinner table.
Your Easter table linens can be solid, floral, plaid, geometric, or any pattern you desire to create a tablescape that sets the atmosphere for your Easter meal.
You can also use festive dishes or other items used in the room or on your dining table to create a cohesive color scheme.
A wicker or bamboo charger plate is a nice addition to add texture to your Easter tablescape.
A designer tip to get a unique and modern look is to mix and match your dishes to create a one-of-a-kind Easter tablescape.
Centerpiece Options
A floral bouquet is always a nice centerpiece, especially if the flowers incorporate the spring colors of your Easter color scheme.
Tulips are a popular choice, however most any flowers are lovely.
Potted plants are also a good centerpiece option.
Additional Easter tablescape centerpiece options include a basket of eggs, greenery running the length of the table with Easter eggs scattered throughout, candles (either votive or tapers in candlesticks), and/or twigs in a vase with Easter eggs hanging as ornaments.
You can even give each guest their own small centerpiece that is removed once the food is served.
Whatever you use for a centerpiece, make sure that your Easter centerpiece is not too tall to block the view of guests across the table from each other.
A designer tip is to use multiple centerpiece ideas together to create an interesting and unique centerpiece that is sure to be remembered.
Napkins and Napkin Rings
Napkin rings on cloth napkins add extra flair during Easter. They are like jewelry added to your Easter tablescape.
There are many different styles of napkin rings to choose from. If you want to be creative, you can make your own napkin rings with spring and Easter themes of rabbits, eggs, or chicks.
If you prefer to not use napkin rings, consider using a fancy cloth napkin with a print that complements the other elements of your Easter tablescape or perhaps some fringe.
A designer tip is that a current trend is to place a napkin underneath the top plate of your fine china for a tidy appearance and so guests do not get confused by whose napkin is whose.
Kids Table
If you have a separate kids table for Easter dinner, make sure to give just as much thought (if not more) to the decorations of that table.
Make the kids table feel less like a secluded table in the kitchen and more like a table that is better and more fun than the main dining table.
You can add a fun activity to the table, such as coloring the paper tablecloth or placemats, an Easter themed puzzle, or a book of Easter Mad Libs #ad. Try not to get them an active activity that might require them to get out of their chair and potentially cause a bit of chaos.
A designer tip is to make the kids table centerpiece out of candy (marshmallow Peeps on a stick in a flower pot would be fun). Let the kids know that they can eat the centerpiece after the meal is over if they behave.
