Many stores sell Christmas stocking hangers in all shapes and sizes.
You can even use a good old fashioned nail in your fireplace mantel to hang your Christmas stockings.
Here are a few stocking hangers that you may have not considered.
Antlers
You may already have antlers in your home that you can use as stocking hangers.
Antlers are appropriate stocking hangers since reindeer have antlers and hunting season is usually around the Christmas season.
Be aware that the antlers may not be able to hold the weight of stockings that have been filled, so Santa may have to place the stockings near the fireplace when filling them, or you can find a way to secure the antlers so they can hold the weight.
Tree Branch
For a rustic look, you can use a tree branch as a stocking holder.
Either hang the stockings from the smaller branch offshoots, tie a ribbon around the branch to attach the stockings, or use nails in the branch to hang the stockings.
Curtain Rod
You can hang a curtain rod underneath your fireplace mantel to hang your stockings from.
The stockings will appear to be warming by the fire.
Make sure the stockings are not too close to the fire to create a fire hazard or melt any goodies that Santa may bring.
Clothes Line
For a more vintage or cottage look, you can string a clothes line from one end of your mantel to the other and use clothes pins to hang your stockings.
You will need to secure the clothes pins to the line so that the stockings don't slide to the center.
Purse Hanger
Many women use purse hangers #ad to hang their purse from the bottom of a table when at a restaurant.
Purse hangers should also work for stockings.
Hidden
If you have garland or an abundance of other decor on your mantel, you can use any type of hanger (even ugly plastic removable ones #ad) to hang your stockings since they will not be seen.
DIY
You can make your own stocking hangers using some chunky pieces of scrap wood and a hook.
Consider painting the wood a fun color, decorating it with winter or Christmas shapes, adding a photograph of the stocking owner, using chalkboard paint to write the person's name, or whatever coordinates with your Christmas decor.
You can use a large nail as the hook, a vintage looking coat hook, or even a decorative cabinet knob.
