If you have some plain clear Christmas ornaments, either glass or plastic, consider painting them this year for Christmas.
Most ladies already have plenty of nail polish at their home, so why not paint them with nail polish?
Here are the steps, tips, and tricks for how to paint clear Christmas ornaments with nail polish.
There is really no rule when it comes to the color of nail polish to use.
You can use hot pink, silver, gray, black, red, navy, green, orange, glitter, or whatever you already have.
If you want a thinner layer of nail polish, you can use a mixture of clear and the color of your choice.
You can even experiment with mixing colors.
If you use a glitter nail polish with a clear base color, be aware that the ornament hook may be seen through the ornament after it is painted.
Ornament
The best place to paint a Christmas ornament is the inside so it won't get scratched and it remains shiny.
In order to paint the inside, you must first remove the ornament hook.
Generally, all you need to do is squeeze the hooks pieces together at the point closest to the top of the ornament and give it a little tug.
Please be careful with the amount of pressure you apply to your ornament because nobody wants to clean up broken glass.
After you have removed the hook, pour a generous amount of nail polish inside the ornament and swirl it around so it covers the entire inside surface.
Make sure you do not get any on the outside of the ornament, else wipe it off immediately.
Let the ornament sit in an upright position for about 5 minutes, then pour the excess nail polish back into the bottle.
You may want to repeat this step once or twice more.
Let your ornament dry for about 24 hours before putting the hook back on and hanging on your Christmas tree.
