How to Decorate Your Home Office to be Functional and Stylish

If you work from your home office, you may spend most of your day there, so you should take some extra time to make sure it is decorated nicely.

You might want a home office that is more minimally decorated so you can focus on work or a home office that is full of decor and feels cozy.

No matter your design style (contemporary, traditional, modern, vintage, etc), consider these decor ideas to make your home office as nicely decorated as the rest of your home

Professionally decorated home office - traditional and elegantColor Scheme
Select a color scheme for your home office that will allow you to concentrate and be the most productive.

If you work best in an all white room, make your home office all white.

If you work best in a very colorful room, make your home office very colorful.

Don't forget to use a bit of white and black in spots around your room for contrast.

If you do not want to use strong color, you can use all neutrals (such as black,  beige, brown, and white) with one pop of color for interest.

You might choose a color scheme based on the colors in a rug or artwork in your office.

Once you select your color scheme, repeat the colors throughout your room.  For a more interesting color palette, also decorate with lighter and darker versions of your colors.

How to Decorate a Home OfficeOrganization
The best way to decorate your home office is to make it neat, tidy, and organized.

Use special organizational tools in your home office that are functional for your specific needs.

Keep most of your desk top completely empty if your work requires you to spread items out on your desk.

Feel free to add a few decorative items that make you happy but don't overpower the space.

If your home office is a portion of another room of your home instead of its own room with a door, make sure the office portion of the room complements the decor in the rest of the room instead of sticking out and looking like an afterthought.

The office portion can also be used for other activities, such as being an extension of the living room or dining room when not being used as a home office.
