When decorating your Christmas tree this year, consider decorating it with angel ornaments.
Angels are both beautiful and symbolic of the Christmas season.
Here are a few interior designer tips, tricks, & ideas for decorating your Christmas tree with angels.
You can use a fresh Christmas tree or an artificial Christmas tree.
It can be green, white, or flocked.
When setting up your Christmas tree, make sure to position it so that they best side is in the most prominant position (a side that doesn't look as good can face a wall).
If you are using an artificial Christmas tree, make sure to set aside plenty of time to fluff it properly so it looks its best.
If you are using a fresh Christmas tree, make sure to care for it properly so it survives the Christmas season looking its best. You don't want a crispy looking Christmas tree!
Lights
Don't forget to use Christmas lights on your Christmas tree for a glowing effect.
You can use traditional white or clear string lights or electric lights that look like candles for a more historic feel.
If you use string lights, using 1 string of 100 lights per foot height of tree is a good rule of thumb (an 8 foot tall Christmas tree will get 8 strands of lights).
You can even add in 1 or 2 strings of twinkling lights around the trunk of the tree for a sparkle effect and/or 1 or 2 strings of lights with a larger bulb for more light variety.
Garland
Using garland on an angel themed Christmas tree is optional.
You can use fabric, ribbon, or grapevine wreath as a garland.
Angel Ornaments
You can choose to decorate only with angel ornaments, or you can add in some simple sphere ornaments or florals to fill in the holes.
The more intricate or large your angel ornaments, the fewer fillers you should use to ensure the focus is on the angels.
Place your large angel ornaments towards the bottom of your Christmas tree and your smaller angel ornaments towards the top.
Consider starting your angel ornament collection with a few very special angels and add one to your collection each year.
For a standard sized Christmas tree (6 to 9 foot tall), your angels should be no larger than a cantaloupe, else they might look juvenile and out of scale. Larger trees can accommodate larger ornaments.
Try to avoid using too many smaller ornaments that can look cluttered and messy.
Fillers
Your Christmas tree might have a few spots that look bare.
Use floral fillers to fill in the holes and make your Christmas tree look full and fluffy.
You can use faux evergreen fillers that look like your Christmas tree or fillers that look like a different evergreen.
Another option is to fill in with faux flowers or pine cones.
Make sure to spread your fillers evenly throughout your Christmas tree.
Christmas Tree Topper
A star Christmas tree topper is traditionally what is used for the top of an angel themed Christmas tree.
You could also use an oversized bow.
Christmas Tree Skirt
To finish off your angel themed Christmas tree, cover the bottom of the tree with a Christmas tree skirt.
The skirt will cover the Christmas tree stand and base of the Christmas tree.
You can use a ready-made Christmas tree skirt or a large piece of fabric that you already own (a tablecloth, blanket, or sheet).
Surround
To add to the Christmas tree decor, feel free to put your nativity scene below or around your Christmas tree.
