How to Decorate a Home Seasonally

Some people keep their home decor the same year round, however others like to change their home decor depending on the seasons.

Here are a few ways to update your home decor seasonally.

Pillows and Blankets
You can change your pillows on your bed, sofa, and chairs seasonally.

For warmer seasons, use pillows that are made of simple light weight fabric in lighter and brighter colors.

For cooler seasons, use darker colored pillows that are made of heavier weight more textural fabric to create a cozy atmosphere.

You can also add soft blankets to your sofa and bed as the temperature drops in the fall and winter.

Flowers
Seasonal flowers are perfect for decorating your home.

In the spring and summer, decorate with bright flowers or fresh fruit in a clear glass vessel.

In the fall, decorate with pine cones and pumpkins.

In the winter, consider decorating with tree branches and pine cones spray painted a fun metallic color.

Linens
An easy way to change the seasons is to change your linens - such as your hand towels, place mats, small rugs, and/or draperies.

Select light and bright colored linens for the spring and summer, earth tones for the fall, and a white for the winter.

The lower the temperature outside, the heavier weight the linens should be.

Accessory Colors
When decorating for the seasons, try replacing a few items with similar scaled items in different colors.

Spring colored items are typically pastel, summer items are bright colors, fall items are earth tones, and winter items are usually neutrals like white, black, brown, and gray.

Don't Decorate Too Soon
Make sure to not decorate too soon for the coming season or holiday, else you will get tired of that season or holiday before it is over.

Also, if you decorate too soon, you will have a confusing mixture of seasons and/or holiday decor.

Make sure to remove seasonal and holiday decorations soon after the season or holiday are over.
