How to Decorate a Glamorous Rustic Christmas Tree

If you have a casual home that is a bit rustic, a fancy and elegant Christmas tree might look out of place.

In order to have a glamorous Christmas tree in a rustic home, you must combine both styles together.

Here are the steps for how to decorate a glamorous rustic Christmas tree.

Tips and Tricks for Decorating a Glamorous Rustic Christmas TreeChristmas Tree
You can decorate for Christmas using either an artificial Christmas tree or a fresh Christmas tree.

A traditional green tree looks best, but you can have a bit of white flocking if you wish.

Position your Christmas tree with the best looking side in the most visible position.

If you have an artificial Christmas tree, make sure to spend a good amount of time fluffing it so it looks its best.

Color Scheme
In keeping with the rustic theme, the color scheme for your Christmas tree should be the colors of nature in winter (green, brown, and maybe white).

You can add in a simple traditional color such as red as an accent.

To add glamour, you should also have metallic silver and/or gold.

You can even add a touch of black to create contrast.

Don't use trendy colors such as turquoise, aqua, pink, or teal that are not really appropriate in a rustic home.

Lights
Use white or clear lights on your Christmas tree - not colored lights that are neither rustic nor glamorous.

You should apply at least one strand of 100 mini lights (non-blinking) per foot height of tree.  If you have an 8 foot tree, you will need a minimum of 8 strands of lights.

For more of a designer look and to add glamour to your tree, you should add 2 to 3 strands of lights per foot height of your tree, so you will have 16 to 24 strands of lights for an 8 foot tree.

To add a bit of elegant twinkle, feel free to add 1 or 2 strands of blinking lights just around the trunk of your tree.

Even if you have a pre-lit tree, you can still add more lights.  It is nearly impossible to have too many lights.

Garland
To get a glamorous rustic look, apply 2 types of garland - one rustic and the other elegant.

For rustic garland, you can use burlap or grapevine.

For elegant garland, you can use shiny tinsel or ribbon.

Fillers
Before adding your ornaments, add a few rustic fillers with a glamorous twist.

You can add pine cones covered in glitter or branches painted with metallic spray paint.

Apply the fillers equally around the tree.

Ornaments
Decorate your Christmas tree with ornaments in the color scheme you have selected.

You should use some ornaments that are rustic and other ornaments that are elegant.

Try to find ornaments that are both rustic and glamorous.

For a designer look, select a few unique oversized focal point ornaments for your Christmas tree so it does not look the same everywhere.

Finishing Touches
Select a simple tree topper for your rustic glamour Christmas tree, such as a simple star.

Use a rustic tree skirt that complements your color scheme or some basic draped burlap fabric.

Wrap your Christmas gifts in brown craft paper with a fancy and elegant bow, or any other gift wrapping that complements your rustic Christmas decor.
