Most people decorate their Christmas tree mostly with the color red.
This year, why not consider decorating your Christmas tree in green and gold instead?
Here are some interior designer tips & tricks for how to decorate a green and gold Christmas tree.

You can select either a live or artificial Christmas tree.
A solid green tree works best instead of a flocked white, silver, or other colored tree, however you could use a gold Christmas tree if you wish for a bit more glam.
Position your Christmas tree so that the best looking side is in the most prominant location.
If using an artificial Christmas tree, make sure to fluff it properly.
Christmas Lights
When adding Christmas lights to any Christmas tree, the designer rule of thumb is to use a minimum of 1 strand of 100 mini lights per foot height of tree.
A 6 foot tall Christmas tree would get 6 strands and a 7 foot tall Christmas tree would get 7 strands.
Keep in mind that this is a minimum amount of lights, so feel free to add more - even if you have a pre-lit tree.
A designer trick for adding Christmas lights is to add 1 or 2 strand of flickering Christmas lights wrapped around the trunk of your Christmas tree to give your tree a touch of sparkle.
You can also add 1 or 2 strands of lights with a larger bulb for more dimension of light.
Texture
In order to make a green and gold Christmas tree special, you must use a lot of texture.
Start decorating your Christmas tree by adding textural items (floral picks, garland, pine cones, etc.) before you add the ornaments.
Use these textural items to fill in any bare spots on your Christmas tree.
Ornaments
Keeping on the texture theme, use green and gold ornaments that are also textural.
Use shiny and dull, bumpy and smooth, and small and large ornaments for interest.
For added designer flair, use 5-7 focal point ornaments (extra large ornaments about the size of your outstretched hand) so your Christmas tree does not look the same everywhere.
Top and Bottom
Don't forget about the top and bottom of your green and gold Christmas tree.
Select an appropriate tree topper (a tree topper is optional) and a tree skirt.
For an added designer look, wrap all of your Christmas gifts in gift wrap and bows that coordinates with your Christmas tree. Use different combinations of papers and bows so the gifts look similar but not the same.
