Home Decorating Ideas Using Monograms

Many people love the look of monogrammed items in their homes.

Probably the most popular monogram incorporates 3 letters - the largest letter in the center is the first initial of the person's last name, the letter on the left is the first initial of the person's first name and the letter on the right is the first initial of the person's middle name.

Often married couples will have something monogrammed in the same manner, except the initial to the left would be the first initial of the wife's name and the one or the right would be the first initial of the husband's name (or vise versa).

Many monograms just have the first letter of the last name.

Monograms can be embroidered, etched, embossed, stamped, put on sticky vinyl, or painted on home items.

Some monograms are very fancy while others are plain and simple.

Here are a few items that are commonly monogrammed in the home.

Bedroom
A pillowcase is often monogrammed for children and married couples.

For children, it is a good way to make sure your child sleeps on his or her pillow when sleeping at a friend's house.

It is also a great wedding gift for married couples.

An alternate to a pillowcase is a monogrammed decorative pillow for the center of the bed or a monogrammed upholstered headboard.

Many children have monogram art hangings over their bed made of thin wood hung by a decorative ribbon and bow.

Living Room
Just like the bedroom, you can use a monogrammed decorative pillow for the center of the sofa or on a small chair.

Also consider adding a monogram to a basic picture frame to add some pizzazz.

Monogrammed artwork is also popular.

Don't forget about monogrammed Christmas ornaments.

Bathroom
Bath towels, beach towels, and hand towels are often monogrammed with either a 3 letter monogram or just one letter of the first initial of household's last name.

You can even monogram your shower curtain, waste basket, window treatments, or tissue box.

If you are feeling creative, you can make a monogram out of mosaic floor tiles.

Kitchen
You can monogram barware, such as an ice bucket, pitcher, or drinking glasses.

Drink coasters, kitchen towels, aprons, and serving trays are also a fun thing to monogram.

Kids love having a mug or travel cup that is personalized with a monogram.

Entry and Foyer
Many stores carry door mats with a single initial monogram or offer a custom option to make a personalized monogrammed door mat..

These door mats come in many colors and materials.

You can also have a monogrammed wreath or door knocker on your door.

Laundry Room
Does each member of the family have their own laundry basket or laundry bag?

If so, why not personalize them with monograms.

Office
In either your home office or away from home office, you can have a monogrammed mouse pad, letter opener, cell phone case, chair upholstery, business card holder, or picture frame.

Pets
Don't forget about your pets when monogramming.

They can have a monogrammed water bowl, collar, or pet floor mat.

Moderation is Key
Don't go crazy adding too many monogrammed items to your home; else it may look like a monogram shop.

Consider putting no more than one or two monogrammed items in each room.
