The most obvious way to add books to your bedroom is to add bookshelves.

Your bookshelves can be built-in or freestanding.  You might only have room for one small bookcase or you might have room for several larger bookcases.

Make sure that you don't put too many bookcases in your room that you don't have storage for your other items, such as your clothes.

Make sure to choose a bookshelf that fits your personal style and the overall design of your bedroom, not just the biggest one that will fit the space.

A minimalist bookshelf with straight lines might be best for a modern bedroom, while an ornate wood bookshelf might be better for a traditional bedroom.

If you are going to have books in your bedroom, then you also need a place to sit and read your books.

You might be limited on space and have to read your books while in bed, but hopefully you have a little extra space in your room to be able to create a reading nook.

All you need is a comfortable chair or window seat, a reading lamp, and a small table for your book of choice, glasses, and beverage of choice to create the perfect reading nook.

You can also add a rug, some decorative pillows, and a throw blanket to make the space even more inviting.

Choose the Right Bedding
Make sure to consider your bedding when decorating your bedroom since the bed is typically the focal point of a bedroom.

If you want your bed to be your focal point, then make sure that your bedding takes center stage.  You might opt for a bold colored bedding or a neutral colored bedding with some fun accent pillows.

Since your bed typically takes up the most floor space in a bedroom, bedding is the best way to add color to a room and create a cohesive color scheme.

If you would prefer your books to be the focal point, then make your bedding neutral so that it almost disappears.

Add Artwork
If you have some wall space that is open and not covered in bookcases, consider adding art to your walls to break up the sea of books.

Ideally, your artwork should cover 60-75% of the blank wall for maximum effect.  That might include one large piece of art or a grouping of several smaller pieces of art.

You can choose art that is illustrations from your favorite books or book covers.

Also consider grouping your book-related items together to create a collection, such as pretty bookmarks or award ribbons for reading.

You can also add smaller pieces of art to your bookshelves to make your room feel more like your own personal space and not the public library.

Since you most likely have a large collection of books, make sure to keep them organized in a way that you can easily locate a specific book.

Don't try to be cute or trendy and organize them by color.

You might want to create a spreadsheet or a filing system to keep track of every book in your collection.

Shelf labels might also help keep your books organized.

If you have limited space and need more space for books, consider using bookends to display your favorite books or the books you are currently reading on your dresser or nightstand.

Choose the Right Lighting
Most bedrooms only have one light in the center of the ceiling, but that is not good enough for a bedroom with books.

You must have adequate lighting to read!

Make sure to add at least one lamp in the area where you will be reading.

An art light at the top of your bookcase is a nice touch to add light to that area and give it a designer touch.
