You can decorate the open space above your two story foyer with a large chandelier.

The chandelier will be the focal point of your room and add wow factor to your entryway, so don't skimp and buy a small sized one.

Most interior designers suggest that the height of your chandelier should be approximately 2-3 inches per foot height of the ceiling.  For example, 20 foot ceiling should have a 40-60 inch tall chandlier.

Designers also suggest that the width of a foyer chandelier should be approximately the width of the foyer in feet plus the length of the foyer in feet.  Take that number in feet and your chandelier should be that number, except in inches instead of feet.  For example, a 10 foot wide by 12 foot wide foyer should have a chandelier approximatly 22 inches wide.

If you have a window over your front door, you can either center the chandelier in the window or have it a little lower to make the foyer a bit brighter.

Feel free to add multiple chandeliers.

Table
If you have room in the middle of your foyer, put a round entry table with some fresh flowers in the center.

If you do not have room in the center of your foyer, put a small entry table against a wall.

Decorate that entry table with fresh flowers, a lamp or two, and a decorative item such as an unusual bowl, decorative box, or unique conversation item.

Mirror
Decorate using a tall mirror in your two story foyer to emphasize the height of the room.

The mirror can be wall mounted, propped on the floor, or located over the entry table.

The mirror should be at a height that will allow people to check their appearance before exiting the house.

Rug
Unless you have a decorative floor, add a rug to your two story foyer to add softness.

The rug will also help with the acoustics by reducing any echo that might be present.

Plants and Flowers
Plants and flowers add a live element to a room and help it feel more cozy and welcoming.

Extra Moldings
If you want to add extra detail to your foyer, add extra architectural moldings.

You can add extra tall crown molding, wood paneling, wainscotting, or frame out some sections of your entryway wall with some decorative molding.

Extra moldings make your large two story walls not look so bare.

Front Door
If budget allows, consider upgrading your front door to a more unique or high end door.
