Metal Dog Crate Alternatives

If your pet currently has an ugly wire dog crate, consider these more stylish options for pet crates.

Many companies sell designer or luxury dog crates #ad that look like furniture.

They are often stained wood and look like a nice piece of furniture.

Some more modern looking models are round and painted designer colors.

The furniture dog crates can be used as an end table in your living room or a night stand in your bedroom.

You might also consider making your own dog crate furniture (or having one custome made) to complement your existing decor.

Wicker
Some metal dog crates are available with a wicker surround #ad, which is much more attractive alternative than plain metal.

Ottoman
If you have a small dog, you can create a custom ottoman that hides your pet crate underneath the ottoman skirt.

The dog crate would be completely out of sight unless the ottoman skirt is lifted.

Some companies make ready made pet crate ottomans #ad.

Artistic Crate
A few companies sell metal dog crates that look like a piece of art #ad.

Some crates look like half of a sphere while others look like an intricate bird house, fancy doll house, or miniature version of your home.

Small Room
If you have a small space hidden in your wall, perhaps unusable space under your stairs, consider making that room into an in-wall dog crate as an alternative to a freestanding dog crate.

You will need to get a door that allows plenty of air circulation and finish the walls and floors to be easily cleanable.

If the room is a bit larger, you may want to run air conditioning and heating to that room.

If there is an exterior wall available, consider installing a small window or doggie door.

Fabric Cover
A simpler alternative for disguising an ugly wire dog create is to add a fabric cover.

You can cover the dog crate with any fabric you currently have or you can purchase a cover that fits your dog crate size exactly.

The fabric color and pattern can either match your decor or the personality of your dog.

Make sure that the fabric allows plenty of air circulation for your dog if using it while your dog is inside the pet crate, else just use it when your dog is outside the crate.
