If you are looking for a theme for your Christmas tree this year, why not choose snowflakes?
Snowflakes are beautiful and elegant, so they are perfect to use as decorations.
Here are the steps for how to decorate a snowflake Christmas tree.
Tree
You can use a fresh or artificial Christmas tree when decorating in a snowflake theme.
You can also use a Christmas tree in any color, however a darker colored tree works best with lighter colored ornaments.
A traditional green Christmas tree is preferred.
Lights
You will need many Christmas lights for your snowflake Christmas tree.
Start by adding a minimum of 1 strand of 100 mini sized string lights per foot height of your Christmas tree.
If your tree is 8 foot tall, you will need a minimum of 8 strands of 100 lights.
Feel free to add more lights since it is nearly impossible to have too many Christmas lights on a Christmas tree.
To ensure your snowflake Christmas tree has a warm and welcoming feeling instead of a cold feel, use warm white lights that have a slight yellow tint instead of cool white lights that look blue.
For a designer touch, use 1 strand of blinking lights wrapped only around the Christmas tree trunk for a slight twinkle effect.
You can also add one or two strands of Christmas lights that are slightly larger than the mini lights to add a bit of variety.
Garland
You may wish to add ribbon garland, evergreen garland, bead garland, or berry garland to your snowflake Christmas tree to add some texture and color.
Your garland should be either evergreen similar to your tree color or in a silver, white, or gold color.
Ornaments
You will need snowflake ornaments in many different shapes, sizes, and materials to decorate your tree.
To keep your Christmas tree feeling cozy and warm instead of sterile and cold, use a mixture of clear, white, silver, and gold ornaments.
You can use multi packs of the exact same ornament for about half of your ornaments, but the other half need to be one-of-a-kind (especially the larger ones).
You can fill in with traditional sphere ornaments in gold, silver, white, and maybe a few aqua ones for interest.
Finishing Touches
To finish off your snowflake Christmas tree, use a large snowflake as a tree topper.
You can also use a white Christmas tree skirt like a mound of snow under the tree.
Consider wrapping your Christmas gifts in gift wrap that coordinates with the color scheme of your Christmas tree.
